Welcome Back Bonspiel Winners

Bright and early at 8:30am sharp on Sat Nov-5 a number of dreary eyed curlers showed up for our first bonspiel of the year for club members. The curling started off slow in the first game, but quickly intensified as everyone finished waking up and got down to the two most important tasks of the day - good curling and socializing with friends. After some quick snacks and drinks to recharge, everyone headed out onto the ice again for a second 6-end game.

Following the game everyone converged in the lounge in a wonderful lunch and drinks with friends to celebrate the event.

Team Demerse woke up a little earlier than most and won both their games by a wide margin, making them the winners for the event:
Skip: Lois Demerse
Vice: Mark Powell
Second: Ian Jones
Lead: Renee Vander Kooy

Many thanks go to the organizers for this event - the rink of Rick Prouse, Ralf Jarchow, Doug Vivian, and Bob Fines. We were entertained with many great stories from this group over lunch which were "not to leave this room". One story we can share was Ralf Jarchow who rode over 3400km from Calgary to Brampton this Summer to raise funds for the Boston Foundation of Sight raising over $18,000. More details on this amazing feet are available on his blog at keepinganeyeonralf.blogspot.com.
